WEDNESDAY 16TH DECEMBER, 2009

Today, Kerry Airport announced two new Summer sun routes direct to Europe’s popular holiday destinations, Faro, Portugal and Alicante, Spain with Ryanair. Commencing in March 2010 to the end of October, the routes will each operate day-time flights, twice weekly on Wednesday and Saturday. Fares start from only EUR30 each way including taxes and charges and are on sale from this Thursday (17/12/2009) on www.ryanair.com.

Basil Sheerin, Financial Controller, Kerry Airport;

Summer Sun destinations have historically proven to be very popular routes from Kerry Airport. Today, we are pleased to announce that both Faro on Portugal’s beautiful Algarve and Alicante on Spain’s famous Costa Blanca will be available direct from Kerry in 2010. We are confident both routes will be a success and well supported as demand for these destinations is strong locally.

Speaking at a press conference at Kerry Airport this morning, Ryanair’s Lesley Kane, Head of Sales and Marketing Ryanair, Europe, said;

Ryanair is pleased to announce new Kerry routes to/from Alicante and Faro from summer 2010, increasing passenger numbers through Kerry Airport by approximately 30,000. We are confident these direct, low cost routes will be successful. Ryanair is celebrating these new routes by releasing 1 million, €5 seats for travel Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on over 500 routes across its European network in January 2010. These EUR5 seats are now available for booking on www.ryanair.com until midnight Thursday (17th December).

Kerry Airport currently has direct flights to Dublin, London Stansted, London Luton and Frankfurt Hahn with Ryanair. Kerry Airport won the prestigious Irish Airport of the Year in 2005 from the CCI and was declared as the first Heartsafe Airport in Ireland by the Irish Heart Foundation.
